Webflow alternatives: choose by website needs

Compare Payload CMS, WordPress and Ghost by editing, operation and project requirements. Decide when an upgrade or migration makes sense.

By Konrad

A Webflow alternative should solve a specific website problem. Compare editing, functionality and operation first. Changing platforms alone does not deliver better rankings or more inquiries.

Three alternatives with different roles

Payload CMS is an open, code-based platform with an admin interface and APIs. Our assessment: include it when custom content models and agreed development are part of the project.

WordPress is an open CMS with themes and plugins. Consider it where an existing editorial team uses it or required extensions fit an agreed operating model.

Ghost is an open publishing platform with newsletter and membership functions. Our assessment: it belongs in the comparison for a publishing product, rather than as a default replacement for every business website.

Which scope fits your website?

Share your website and the current bottleneck. We discuss a suitable next step.

Questions before deciding

No. Assess search intent, content, internal links and technical obstacles first. A platform change needs an additional, concrete reason.

Agreed content, important URLs and functions. Pages, media, forms and required redirects are inventoried before implementation.

It depends on editing, functionality, operation and budget. We compare these requirements before choosing, including whether selective improvements to Webflow are enough.

A migration needs a practical reason

Write down the current bottleneck before replacing the system. Is content difficult to manage? Is an integration missing? Do roles or languages fail to support the workflow? Is operation unclear? A defined problem makes the comparison useful.

  • Editing: which content changes, and who changes it?
  • Functions: what must continue working after migration?
  • Existing site: which URLs, media and forms must be preserved?
  • Operation: who owns hosting, backups and updates?
  • Budget: what is one-off delivery, and what is ongoing?

Improve, redesign or migrate?

Targeted changes may be enough if the current site has suitable foundations. A redesign addresses a new structure or visual direction. Migration moves an agreed body of content and functionality to another system; it does not replace a missing content strategy.

Our 1:1 migration to Payload CMS starts at €2,000 one-off. A new website or relaunch starts at €3,000 one-off; ongoing SEO/GEO support at €350 per month. Hosting and external services are agreed separately. Read Webflow pricing and our Payload CMS guide to compare the scope.
